Dental Implants

Dental implants are a popular way to replace one or more missing teeth. As an alternative to traditional bridges and dentures, dental implants look and feel far more natural in that they are arranged independently from the other teeth. A dental implant is constructed by a biocompatible titanium screw (like a tooth root) that is surgically set into the jawbone which is ultimately covered by a crown, bridge or denture.

Treatment Process

Step 1: At your initial consultation with Dr. McAllister, she will assess and evaluate your particular situation in order to determine the viability of a dental implant. During this assessment, both X-rays and 3-D scans may be required alongside a manual analysis of your soft tissue and bones.

Step 2: Upon deciding there is a need for dental implants, our team will refer you to an appropriate specialist. Once the implant is placed, it will require 4-6months to heal. During this time, you may wish to have a temporary crown or temporary prosthesis. We can help coordinate the appointments so that this temporary is delivered the same day the implant is placed. You will never have to live with a missing tooth, ever again!

Step 3: Once your implant is healed, we are happy to see you for your final appointment to restore your implant. We will take an impression of the area for the custom crown, bridge or denture to be fabricated to fit your new implant. It will look and feel exactly like a real tooth!

Benefits

  • Dental implants help to preserve the bone mass that often disintegrates after teeth are removed.
  • Dental implants support the strengthening of surrounding teeth and maintain jaw and facial appearance.
